Indianapolis at a Glance

Indianapolis was modeled after Washington D.C., with streets radiating outward from the seat of the government. After moving to Indianapolis, you can stroll to a collection of monuments and memorials similar to those of Washington. Monument Circle is the physical, and spiritual, heart of the city. The massive Indiana World War Memorial and Museum is modeled after the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world! The top of the city’s tallest building, Salesforce Tower, looks similar to the memorial and mausoleum with the awesome stepped pyramid top. The Salesforce tower stands 701 feet tall!

Head down over to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail to Mass Ave, where you’ll find a progressive neighborhood better known as the Theater District, or Fountain Square. The retro vibes and live music will make you be proud and grateful for your move to Indianapolis. If you have children, they would be happy to know that The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is the largest children’s museum in the world!

Places to Visit in Indianapolis

There are plenty of places to dine and enjoy a few cocktails at nearby Fletcher Place, where you can really get a feel of the food scene in Indianapolis. It’s imperative that you try a sugar cream pie, better known as Hoosier Pie. This simple custard pie originated in the 1800s as a way to use ingredients typically on hand, like butter, flour, and sugar or maple syrup. Every place creates their own delicious version of Hoosier Pie, so the professionals at All My Sons suggest trying them all!

No move to Indiana is complete with out making your way to Lucas Oil Stadium and Bankers Life Fieldhouse. You can catch a Colts football game at the stadium, and watch the Pacers fly up and down the court at the arena. Indianapolis is also the host to the world’s largest single-day sporting event, better known as the Indianapolis 500. In a city that built its reputation on sports, both amateur and professional, you’re sure to find a sporting event shortly after moving to Indianapolis.
