Is Melissa, TX a Good Place to Live?

All My Sons Moving Company McKinney TX, thinks it is a great place to live if you are looking for the “small town” feel but still want local services and amenities. It has a recognized Melissa Independent School District, various athletic and youth activities, and churches scattered throughout the community. Melissa has a small-town charm, and the community has a sense of value and pride. The town's origin began in the late 1800s. There is some disagreement on the origin of the town's name. Some believe it was named after the daughter of George A. Quinlan, an official of the Houston and Texas Central Railroad. Others believe that the town was named after the daughter of a prominent railroad executive, C.P. Huntington. Melissa's economy survived off a flour mill, two cotton gins, and the juxtaposition between cities, creating a hub for commercial and community activities. Melissa has a melancholy past, though. A tornado ran through the town in 1921 that demolished buildings, killed 13, and injured 54. Later in 1929, a fire destroyed many of the buildings that had had just been rebuilt after the tornado. During the same time, the Great Depression was wreaking havoc in the community, and the population dropped to 500; however, Melissa persevered. After all of their trials and tribulations, Melissa is now a picturesque community.
