Dedicated to the preservation, restoration and operation of historical railroad equipment, the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum sponsors the city’s Secret City Excursion train. The train ride itself is much like taking a trip back in time – each train is pulled by 1950’s vintage diesel locomotives. Each car is restored from the 1940’s era of passenger railroading and will, without a doubt, be a great way to educate the whole family on the history of Oak Ridge, while seeing the city as well.
