In 1950, the Big Maumelle River was dammed west of Roland, creating Lake Maumelle. Although no swimming is allowed, you can take your boats out on the water and fish. Check out Jolly Roger’s Marina for party barge rentals, boat slips, and fuel. The lake is famous for its many sailing regattas. Another notable tidbit of Roland, AK, is that it is home to P. Allen Smith, a TV host of shows that include Garden Home, Garden to Table, and Garden Style.

A little over half the residents own their homes. The median house value is about $153,900, and the average median household income is $34,865. The population is mainly made up of retirees and tends to be more conservative. Roland also offers an excellent school system, and there is virtually no crime.

Family Life in Roland, Arkansas

If you are moving with your school-aged children, Roland is zoned to the Joe T. Robinson school system, named after a former Governor of Arkansas. There are numerous fun activities that your family can enjoy, including the Little Italy Arkansas Heritage Museum.
