Tips to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

Bring out the disinfecting cleaners! It’s time to say goodbye to germs and clean your home. Prevent the spread of COVID-19 with these tips to disinfect your home.

1. Disinfect all surfaces

The first step to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to disinfect all surfaces in your home, car, office, and wherever you spend time. You must apply a disinfectant to all surfaces as they are potentially covered in germs. Kill the viruses with a household disinfecting spray, wipe, or other cleaners. You can use brands like Clorox and Lysol, or you can make your own household bleach solution to disinfect your home effectively. Besides surfaces, disinfect all items you purchase at a store or items delivered to your door during this period of self-quarantine.

2. Wipe down electronics

As you go through cleaning all areas of your home during the COVID-19 outbreak, don’t forget about your electronics. Your cell phone, keyboard, tablets, and TV remotes, among numerous other gadgets, are all highly touched surfaces. The CDC recommends you put a wipeable cover on electronics. After checking the manufacturer’s instructions, you can use alcohol-based cleaners to disinfect them.

3. Wash linens frequently

Another great way to purify your home is by frequently doing loads of laundry. Maybe you had a friend stop by who lounged with a throw blanket, or you had a relative stay the night on a set of sheets, it’s important to wash all household linens that have been used to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As most people are in self isolation, pajamas or sweatpants are likely the new uniform – wash them frequently. Essential workers who still need to venture out into the world should also frequently launder their clothing, moreso, probably. When handling the laundry, use disposable gloves to shield yourself from any potential germs. If you don’t have gloves due to the current shortage, wash your hands immediately after handling the laundry.

4. Wash hands often

The easiest way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is by washing your hands regularly. For at least 20 seconds, wash your hands with soap and water as often as possible, after touching anything. Our residential Sarasota movers recommend washing your hands before and after you prepare food, use the restroom, as you’re caring for your children throughout the day, and of course, if you cough, sneeze, or blow your nose. If you go to the store for essential items, even if you wear a mask and gloves, it is vital that you wash your hands immediately when you get home. If you have items delivered to your door, after disinfecting the items, wash your hands again.

5. Clean your home daily

While it may seem like a pain to continually disinfect your home, our team suggests you clean your home every day. This doesn’t mean you have to deep clean your entire home every day. Simply pick up loose items that are out of place, make your bed, and wipe down your commonly used surfaces with an all-purpose cleaner. This is a great way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while maintaining the cleanliness of your home.

Our family at All My Sons Moving & Storage hope you follow the health and safety guidelines set by WHO and the CDC as well as implement these steps to disinfect your home. Together we can flatten the curve and help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Wash your hands, clean your surfaces, and make sure you call our team for all your relocation services. Then wash your hands again.
