Preparing Your Home for the Holidays

The holidays are here, but is your home ready? All My Sons Moving & Storage of St. Louis would like to help you prepare for the holidays...the right way.

-First thing's first, is your home prepared for the cold weather? There are really cold months coming up so you need to make sure that you have everything prepared for your home to endure the winter, comfortably. Do a walk around the perimeter and make sure that there is no cold air or water coming into your home. The start of winter is the perfect time to have a mini home inspection done that includes checking the AC and heating unit and making sure that all windows and doors are energy efficient and properly sealed. Also, double check your roof and make sure that it is able to handle whatever snow is coming; snow is heavy and cause a weak roof to collapse.

-Perhaps the most exciting part of winter, is getting your home ready to fit a beautiful Christmas tree and Christmas decorations. All My Sons Moving & Storage recommends doing some cleaning and organizing before you bring out all of your Christmas decorations. While organizing, you can also donate some things to charity

-Now, it is time to start decorating with your family and making wonderful and amazing memories in your St. Louis home. Make some new traditions and take a lot of pictures so that you can capture the holiday moments with your family.

-A fun thing to do in order to get ready for the holidays: Elf on the Shelf! Since 2005, Elf on the Shelf has been a new Christmas tradition, inspired by a children's book. The elf in your home leaves every night to go back to the North Pole and reports to Santa Clause on the children and their behavior. Every night when the kids go to sleep, the elf is in one spot and every morning he is in a different spot! Your children will love learning their way around their new home by following the Elf on the Shelf.

-Do not forget to put out milk, cookies, and a handwritten letter to Santa Clause with your kids on Christmas Eve. Your children will look forward to seeing if Santa Clause ate any cookies, drank any milk, and took the letter home to the North Pole, while you enjoy some midnight milk and cookies.

Your local St. Louis moving company would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday, from our family to yours!
