Get Moved with the Elliptical

All My Sons Moving & Storage helps businesses and families nationwide with professional packing to get all your important heavy items, including the elliptical, safely to your destination. Will you be moving the elliptical yourself? Follow these five steps to get your exercise machine safely moved and set up at your next home gym.

Elliptical trainers offer a low-impact cardio workout that’s easier on the joints. When you added your elliptical to your home gym, you probably felt empowered to set out on your fitness journey. Unfortunately, even fitness enthusiasts need to relocate sometimes, and moving your home gym equipment, your treadmill, and your elliptical could prove to be a challenging workout all by itself.

At All My Sons Moving & Storage, we know a thing or two about getting moved safely and we’d like to help you get your elliptical packed and ready for your move.

Here are five steps to follow to pack your elliptical.

Step 1: Read the Owner’s Manual

The owner’s manual for your elliptical trainer probably has instructions on proper disassembly that will help you relocate the elliptical safely. Grab your original manual and look through the contents for any specific instructions about moving the elliptical.

If you no longer have or cannot find your original manual, look for a digital copy on Manuals OnlineManualsLibManuals+, or the brand website for your elliptical.

Step 2: Measure the Dimensions of Your Elliptical

Get a tape measure and get the dimensions of your elliptical. You can also check your original owner’s manual to see if the dimensions are listed. Whenever you move, you should always check the dimensions of your large items like your elliptical and make sure that the item can fit through any doorways it needs to pass through and sit comfortably in the space where you want to keep it in your new home. If the elliptical will fit, proceed to the next step. If the elliptical will not fit, then you might need to make an alternative plan for it before your move.

Step 3: Unplug and Disassemble the Elliptical

Power the elliptical down and unplug it. If any pieces can detach or disassemble, then use the owner’s manual to determine the best way to take it apart. Save any hardware pieces you remove in a labeled plastic bag. You can either tape this bag to the side of the main body of the elliptical or keep it with other hardware pieces for your move.

Wrap the power cord and secure it with tape, a twist tie, or a Velcro strip.

Step 4: Secure the Handles and Wrap the Elliptical

The swinging handles of the elliptical need to be secured before you begin to move the elliptical. You can tie the handles against the body of the machine with ropes or straps, or wrap the handles with plastic wrap to ensure they do not shift around during transit.

You can also wrap the body of the elliptical in furniture blankets or plastic wrap to help protect it from scratches and dents during transit.

Step 5: Load the Elliptical Onto the Truck

When moving your elliptical, you should always have at least one other person helping you. You can put the elliptical onto a furniture dolly and wheel it out to the truck. Clear a path through your old home to the door before you start rolling the elliptical out to the truck.

Once the elliptical is loaded onto the truck, secure it in place so it does not knock against the other large furniture pieces surrounding it.
