Things to Do in Chestnut Hill, MA

If you’re looking to move to the Boston area, Chestnut Hill might be the perfect place to call home. Let our team at All My Sons Moving & Storage assist you with all your moving needs. Let’s take a look at some of the best things to do in Chestnut Hill, MA.

Reilly Memorial Recreation Center

Whether you’re looking for something fun to do in Chestnut Hill during the Winter or Summer, the Reilly Memorial Recreation Center can accommodate. The skating rink is operational all year round, so step inside and lace up your skates. If you’re looking to catch some sun rays instead, the Reilly Memorial Pool is open from the Spring into the Fall. Nestled against the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, this is a perfect place to take the family for a day away from the house.

Houghton Garden

This is one of our Boston Moving Company’s favorite places to visit. Mrs. Clement S. Houghton started working on the garden in 1906. After she died in the 1950s, the community came together and restored her work, and started the Houghton Gardens conservation area. The garden spans 10 acres with a half-mile walking trail through the middle of this beautiful piece of land, and it is a perfect place to go bird watching with multiple species of herons, warblers, and sparrows gracing its meadows yearly. You’ll not only see an abundance of flowers but there are plenty of perfect parts for an afternoon picnic.

Hammond Pond Reservation

If you want to immerse yourself in nature, take a trip to the Hammond Pond Reservation, located less than 20 miles from one of the largest cities on the East Coast. Our Chestnut Hill movers love the many hiking trails, including the 1.5-mile main trail loop that leads you in a figure eight up next to Hammond Pond and by intriguing rock formations. There are many different paths and wildlife to see, so you can continue to come back and experience something new each time. Be sure to help keep the reservation pristine by recycling and picking up trash if you see it along your way.

Longyear Museum

If you’re looking for something a little bit off the beaten path in Chestnut Hills, our Boston local movers would recommend the Longyear Museum, dedicated to highlighting the life and practices of Mary Baker Eddy, the leader and founder of Christian Science. Based on the premise that all illness is an illusion and that the power of prayer could heal more than any advancement in medicine, Christian Science is a belief system that took root in the mid-1800s. Through one of her fervent supporters, Mary Beecher Longyear, Ms. Eddy’s work is immortalized in the Longyear Museum. Here artifacts, including poetry, essays, and documents about Eddy, tell the story of the rise of her belief system. Opened in 1937, this is a very interesting stop worth the trip in Chestnut Hill.
