5 Things You Can Do To Make You Upcoming Move Easier

Moving can be a stressful time, even if you plan on hiring San Antonio Movers.  To eliminate some of the hassle involved with this process, there are 5 things you can do prior to the move that will make your life easier.  Try to do them now before you life gets overly chaotic with the stressful process of moving.  Here they are.

1 – Put The Utilities In Your Name

First, one of the best things you can do before you have San Antonio Movers transport your belonging is to put the utilities into your name.  This will ensure that you have electricity the second you arrive at your new home.  Many people forget to do this.  When this happens, they cannot turn on the lights or use the electricity.  This complicates the moving process – especially during the late hours of the day.  Instead, it is better to call ahead and transfer the services into your own name.  Keep in mind, when you do this, you might have to pay a few start up fees.  This is standard.  However, you most of these fees will be refundable when you move out.

2 – Forward Your Mail

Next, make sure to stop by the post office and fill out a document that will have your mail forwarded to your new address.  You can also do this online.  Either way, it is important to have your mail forwarded from the day you leave your old home and settle into your new one.  This way you will not lose any vital mail.  This process is free and it does not take long.

3 – Tell Your Neighbors Goodbye

Furthermore, it is also important to tell your neighbors goodbye.  It’s easy to get busy and move out without being courteous to these individuals.  However, you should let them know where you are headed.  You never know when someone might stop by looking for you.  If your neighbors do not where you went, they will not be able to tell those who are looking for you.

4 – Pay Any Outstanding Balances

In addition, it is important to pay any balances owed before you move.  This is particularly important for individuals who rent.  If you owe money on your rent or deposit, make sure you pay that before you leave.  You should also pay any utilities that are owed in the house you are leaving before you go.  It is important to fulfill your accounts and leave on good terms.  Then, you can start fresh in your new home.

5 – Say Goodbye To Your Home

Finally, make sure that you say goodbye to the home you are leaving.  Regardless of how long you stayed there, it provided a nice roof over your head.  Make sure to part on good terms so that you will always look back with fond memories of the house that you once lived in.
