Our dedicated movers have shared some tips to ensure that you understand how to pack pictures and mirrors before your move.

How to Pack Pictures and Mirrors

Packing pictures and mirrors properly is similar to packing up your kitchen glassware. It’s important to give yourself enough time to pack these delicate items properly. Our Pensacola residential movers recommend that you make sure to have the proper supplies before attempting to pack your valuable pictures and mirrors. Of course, you will want to make sure that you have the appropriate boxes, padding, and packing paper, as pictures and mirrors are fragile.

When packing pictures and mirrors, be sure not to put more than one item in a box and not to make the boxes too heavy- each box should be no more than 40lbs. Try to avoid using things like packing peanuts as they produce a lot of static and can be hard to remove from glass. You will also want to make sure that the boxes of pictures and mirrors are never laying flat, as added pressure on them can cause damage.

Tips for Packing Pictures and Mirrors

To ensure your pictures and mirrors arrive safely, be sure to follow these 7 tips carefully:

1. Make sure you have the proper materials: you will need packing tape, packing paper, bubble wrap, artist’s tape, flat foam and cardboard sheets, and photo boxes.

2. Use the artist’s tape to make an “x” shape across the glass of picture frames or tables. This technique helps to keep the glass intact while moving.

3. Cover the glass or frame with a piece of cardboard that is longer than the frame and tape it together with packing tape. Make sure the cardboard is sturdy and unused to ensure your fragile items are protected.

4. Add a good amount of bubble wrap for an extra layer of protection. You can secure the bubble wrap to the picture frame or mirror with packing tape.

5. Put packing paper at the bottom of the picture or mirror boxes. This will provide a layer of cushion when placing the picture or mirror into the box.

6. Fill all empty spaces with more packing paper or bubble wrap for extra protection.

7. Label the box as “fragile,” so you and the team of movers know which items are fragile.
