Get the Towels Moved to Your New Home

All My Sons Moving & Storage provides full-service moving to companies and families relocating in the United States. Get everything secured for your move with professional packing services, including the bathroom towels, or pack the towels yourself in these 5 easy steps.

Fluffy warm bathroom towels keep you clean and dry after a good wash, but they can also help keep your other items safe and secure for your move. Like kitchen towels and hot pads, bathroom towels can help fill empty space in boxes and create a cozy cushion for your other, more fragile bathroom items.

Ready the tape gun and start assembling your boxes, it’s time to get the bathroom towels moved.

Step 1: Donate or Discard Unwanted Towels

The first step you should take for any move is to offload the excess from your life. If you’ve accumulated more towels than you need, the bathroom linen closet may be a great place to start this decluttering process.

Assess your towels and sort them into three piles.

  • Donate: Towels in good condition that you do not desire to keep should be donated to your favorite local charity, nonprofit, homeless shelter, or domestic violence shelter.

  • Discard: Towels that are not in good, working condition should be discarded or diverted into your cleaning rag pile. If your towels in poor condition are just frayed around the edges a little, you might be able to recycle them with a service like Retold Recycling or Trashie. If the towels are soiled or contaminated then it’s best to responsibly trash them.

  • Keep: Towels in great condition that you use and love on a regular basis, and a couple extras just in case, should be in the keep pile at the end of your sorting. These are the towels that are coming with you to your new home.

Now that you have your favorite towels sorted out for the move, proceed to step two.

Step 2: Separate Essential Towels

Your first week in your new home will feel significantly less chaotic if you separate some essential items to be packed last and unloaded first at your new place.

One large bath towel and at least one hand towel should be separated from the rest of your towels and linens and packed with your essentials. Keeping these items with essentials allows you to unpack them first at your new home with other bathroom essentials like toilet paper, soap, and shampoo. You’ll be able to take a post-move shower or wash and dry your hands as soon as you unpack them.

You can pack these items in a special bathroom essentials box or carry them on your person in a bag.

Step 3: Wash Towels and Linens

For the rest of the towels going into your bathroom boxes, run a load of laundry and get all those towels fluffed and smelling fresh. Ensure your towels are clean and completely dry before you pack them. This step is especially important if your bathroom towels are going into storage for any length of time. Soiled or damp towels in a dark storage unit is asking for a mold or mildew outbreak. Preserve your towels for the long haul and get them prepared for storage or your move by washing them.

Step 4: Use Towels to Fill Empty Space in Boxes

Bathroom towels and linens make great packing material for your other, more fragile bathroom items like your glass soap dish or your ceramic shampoo dispenser. You can also place bathroom towels at the bottoms of your boxes to provide a cushy base for all your other items.

When your bathroom boxes are almost full, you can use bathroom towels and linens to fill up any leftover empty box space. This helps protect the contents from shifting during transit.

Step 5: Seal and Label Boxes

Once your box is fully packed, make sure you can comfortably lift and carry the box. If the box is too heavy to lift, repack it with lighter materials inside. Overloaded boxes are a recipe for damaged items and injured movers. Best to keep every box a comfortable weight.

Seal up your box and use a black permanent marker to label the box. In lieu of a full moving inventory, write out the contents of the box in as much detail as possible.

Towels Ready to Transport

Now that you have your essential bathroom towels packed and the rest of your bathroom items boxed up safely, it’s time to get loading!

If you hire a full-service moving company like All My Sons Moving & Storage, then this part should be a breeze.
