Things to Do in Rockport

1. Rockport Beach. A place that you can walk or bike to for free, Rockport Beach has a relaxing atmosphere, while still offering plenty of things to do for the entire family. You can find everything from a play area for the kids, a salt water pool, and a boat ramp for the avid fishermen out there, to multiple delicious restaurants to dine at.

2. Goose Island State Park. A great place to take your family for outdoor activities; such as: fishing and bird watching, Goose Island State Park is known for its great fishing options, with fish like redfish and speckled trout. If your family is feeling adventurous, you can even take them out camping, so that the whole family can discover the famous 1,000 year old Texas State Tree, as well as amazing boardwalks and countless walking trails.

3. Texas Maritime Museum. A great place to bring your kids to discover the maritime history of Texas; here, the whole family can learn something new, while still having fun. Make sure to check out the local shrimping exhibit - it features artifacts and videos that you will not be able to see anywhere else.

4. Rockport Art Center. Not only are Saturday's free for families, but the Rockport Art Center also features a program specifically designed for kids. What makes this program even better, is that it is completely free to students in the Aransas County. While you are there, make sure to plan out a trip to their Art and Film Festival - where they have over 120 live artists, live music, food, kids activities and so much more.

5. Bay Education Center. Free to the public every Tuesday through Saturday, from 1-4 p.m., the Bay Education Center is a great way to teach your kids about important bodies of water, in a fun and innovative way. They also offer field trips to the surrounding schools; including: wetlands education center guided tours, beach exploration & scavenger hunt, salt marsh plant lab, plankton survey, discovery labs and a fish adaptations lab.
