What’s Still Closed in Kissimmee

For two months, most of the nation has been asked to shelter in place in an effort to slow down the spread of COVID-19. Many US residents have been sticking to these stay-at-home orders, only leaving the house for essential items such as groceries. In the first week of May, many states began to announce the possibility of reopening and their plans for doing so. Florida started to ease restrictions in certain areas of the state, including Central Florida, though there are still closures in Kissimmee.

What’s Still Closed in Kissimmee During COVID-19?

The city of Kissimmee has begun reopening some essential businesses in phase 1 but there are still many major attractions, shopping and dining locations, and events that are still canceled or closed. Despite numerous states opening up non-essential businesses, there are still several closures in Kissimmee, FL. Our movers in Kissimmee share their insight about what’s still closed in Kissimmee.

Attractions and Major Theme Parks
The theme parks are a major draw to the area, but they are currently on the list of closures in Kissimmee. Legoland is closed “until further notice” but still plans to open their new hotel on June 1, following the appropriate guidelines for guests. Sea World and Aquatica have not indicated any specific reopening date, though representatives did say the Texas locations would open up before the Florida locations. The theme parks themselves will remain closed at least until May 31, 2020, though Disney park restaurants have already started taking reservations for as early as June.

Accommodations
Many hotels have also closed their doors to the public during the coronavirus pandemic. There is a long list of lodging closures in Kissimmee. Both resort hotels associated with the major theme parks as well as other accommodations in the surrounding areas will remain closed through May and possibly June. As previously mentioned, Legoland still plans to reopen to their new hotel on June 1 at limited capacity.

Restaurants & Shopping
Unlike other cities in Florida, many of the restaurants in Kissimmee are also not open to the public at this time and will remain so until further notice. Universal CityWalk has partially reopened on May 14 with limited capacity, fewer hours of operations, and additional safety guidelines in place. Disney Springs will follow suit, partially reopening on May 20. Some restaurants such as NBC Sports Grill & Brew will open on May 31st while others like Yesake will open sooner on May 20. Most shopping malls in Kissimmee, particularly the Sunset Walk area, are closed until further notice. Tommy Hilfiger plans to reopen its doors to the public as early as July 1, 2020.
