Loxahatchee At a Glance

Founded in 1917, Loxahatchee is an area rich in history.  With strong ties to the agricultural functionality of South Florida, Loxahatchee has been a welcoming community for residents who enjoy the South Florida weather without the hustle and bustle of the big flagship cities. The town is the 38th municipality in Palm Beach County, and Loxahatchee plays a strong role in protecting historical areas throughout the region and voicing what is to come in the future for the area. Loxahatchee is home to a national wildlife refuge which is also the northernmost portion of the Florida Everglades. The refuge is home to the American alligator, the Everglades snail kite, over 250 species of birds, and other indigenous animals. The refuge is about ten miles west of Boynton Beach and offers a range of activities such as exhibits and displays.
