Pros

-Sports

Columbus is known for being a football town and it doesn’t stop there. Columbus is home to the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Crew. Although Ohio State’s football team isn’t professional, most people group them into the professional sports teams in Columbus. You’ll never be bored on the weekend

-Historic Districts

Columbus boasts many tiny, historic neighborhoods. If you love quaint and charming neighborhoods, Columbus is the place for you. German Village is a lovely little village in Columbus with streets filled with bookstores, authentic German food and a park. This historic neighborhood preserves its German heritage and architecture and prides itself on that.

-Ohio State University

As one of the largest and one of the most influential universities in the country, Ohio State University brings tens of thousands of students into Columbus. It also provides the residents of not only Columbus, but the whole state of Ohio, with a nationally-ranked sports teams to root for.

Cons

-Weather

Columbus Ohio definitely has some harsh winters. They are cold and cloudy and you can expect to not see the sun for a few weeks at a time. If you enjoy the winter and love snow, you can expect a lot of snow, wind and temperatures that drop near zero. If you don’t enjoy the winter, Columbus winters may be a bit of a change for you.

-Higher Taxes

Ohio has some of the highest taxes in the country, but you can expect to see a trade off in the prices of other things.

-Transportation

Columbus Ohio is one of the largest cities in the United States not being served by a train, because the Amtrak station was torn down many years ago. There is no rapid public transportation system either- only residential buses. Many of the residents in Columbus use bike routes to get around, but biking is really only an option for half of the year because of winters in Columbus.
