Packing the Changing Table

The professional packing crews at All My Sons moving and storage know all the best ways to wrap and secure everything you own for your move, including the changing table.

Are you moving with kids, especially infants and toddlers who are not yet toilet trained? You probably have a changing table that needs to come with you. Let All My Sons help you figure out the logistics of getting the changing table to your destination in five easy steps.

Step 1: Empty the Changing Table

Take items such as extra diapers, baby wipes, and change pads out of drawers and compartments inside the changing table. Set these to the side for the moment. Remove any toys or mobiles, and take the bag from the diaper pail out with the garbage before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2: Separate Children’s Essentials

Go through the items you emptied out of the changing table and determine which items will need to go with your children’s essentials. These are the items you will pack into a box last or a bag that you will take with you during your move. Once you reach your destination, these items will need to be unpacked first to make a happy, functional home and a happy, healthy young infant.

Some examples of your baby’s essentials that you might keep in the changing table include:

  • Extra diapers

  • Baby wipes

  • Portable changing pads

  • Diaper trash bags

  • Comfort toys

Gather these items up and place them with the other essentials.

Step 3: Disassemble the Changing Table

If the changing table will break down into smaller components safely, then disassemble the table. Make sure to save any hardware pieces in a plastic baggie that you will label clearly and either place with other bags of hardware or tape to a larger piece of the changing table.

Step 4: Wrap Changing Table Pieces in Furniture Pads

Now that you have the changing table in its base components, it’s time to protect the pieces from scratches and scuffs by wrapping the changing table in plastic wrap or furniture pads. Securely tape the furniture pads over the changing table pieces and get ready to move the changing table.

Step 5: Transport Changing Table With Furniture

Your changing table should probably be transported with the essential furniture pieces like your crib. If the pieces are small then they can go inside moving boxes, just make sure to eliminate extra space inside the boxes with packing material and never overload your boxes.

Set up the changing table right after you set up the crib in your new home so that you can change your baby’s diaper again in comfort.

Ready for Changing at the New Home

Re-load the changing table with the items you packed with the children’s essentials, and then once the essentials are unloaded you can begin decorating your infant’s room with all their décor. Have fun making happy new memories with your precious bundle of joy.
