Never fear, Addis movers are here! If there’s one source that you can trust to give you tips to avoid injury during a move, it’s definitely Addis movers. This is what we do every day! We’ve compiled a list of moving safety tips. Print this out, put it on the fridge, have a family meeting and inspire the troops:

Wear the Right Clothes

Wearing the right moving clothes work on two levels:

  1. Avoid injury during a move by wearing clothes that are not too baggy and don’t have long loops that may get snagged when picking up a box or moving without being able to see where you are going.

Additionally, these clothes should be thick enough to prevent sharp edges from poking and scratching you as you move around the house. Addis movers recommend khaki pants and a corduroy shirt.

  2. Make sure these are clothes that you don’t care about because they are most likely going to be ruined.

Get The Right Packing Supplies

There are two things that are vitally important to avoid injury during a move:

  1. The Right boxes: be sure to buy boxes that are strong enough to hold at least 50 pounds. All My Sons of Addis provides packing supplies and moving boxes. Call for more information!
  2. Moving Dollies: Now this is the most used tool that all Addis movers need and use every day. A small 2 foot by 2 foot wooden dolly with wheels or a hand truck are so beneficial when moving heavy items. Moving dollies take a lot of strain off the mover which leads us to the next tip to avoid injury during a move.

Lifting Techniques

Use your legs people! It’s tempting to lift with your back but it’s also very bad for you. The most common moving injuries are cuts and scratches and back strain.

Naturally, your body will use your back to leverage items while moving, but this just isn’t a good way to move. The proper way to go about lifting is to bend at the waist and knees and let your legs do the work. Maintaining a straight back leads to happier moving!

Keep Paths Clear

Avoid injury during a move by designating moving paths. Addis movers do this every day. Create a clear path to the door and keep it clear. This also goes for outside. Be sure to remove anything in your yard between the door and the moving truck.
