Questions to Ask Your Packing Company

The Oklahoma movers at All My Sons have created this list of questions to ask your packers. Hiring movers and packers is stressful, because you are essentially letting strangers into your home. You want to feel confident that you are inviting reliable assistants into your home, rather than some trouble makers. When doing your research, don’t forget about these questions to ask your packers. You’ll be glad you did!

How long has your company been in business?

By all means, the number of years a company has been in business doesn’t always correlate to good service. However, in the moving and packing industry, practice makes perfect. Our professional movers at All My Sons Oklahoma City have been in the industry for over four generations, and know what it takes to provide superior service to our customers.

Is your company insured?

Never use a packing company without a license number or insurance. You want to ensure that your belongings are going to be safe and insured. You should also check to see if your personal belongings are going to be covered during your move, should anything go wrong.

Are you licensed?

Any moving company that is moving you from state to state should have a US DOT number. A US DOT number is a unique license number issued by the United States Department of Transportation. Once you get the company’s US DOT number, make sure it is valid by searching it on the US Department of Transportation database.

Do you have any online reviews?

If a company is in good standing, they should have decent ratings with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). You can also check out some other websites such as Yelp, Facebook or Google reviews. A good reputation most definitely saves you money, so don’t settle on a company that doesn’t get rave reviews.

What do rates really include?

You should know exactly what you’re paying for when you’re investing in packing services. Find out if there is anything that is not included in the initial quote for packing services. Low rates don’t necessarily mean a low final bill.

Do you provide on-site estimates?

By law, a moving and packing company can’t give any estimates over the phone. It’s definitely a red-flag if a packing company is willing to give you estimates over the phone. The only information they can give you over the phone is their rates.

How will your belongings be packed?

When you are bringing people into your home to pack your most personal and valuable belongings, you want to make sure that you can trust them.

After going through this list of questions to ask your packers, we hope that you will feel confident when choosing a company for packing services!
