This beautiful city played a major role in so many different things which have shaped it into the place that it is today. Moving to West Haven is sure to be a good idea!

West Haven is such a wonderful, interesting place and has been from the start. The main commercial street, Campbell Avenue, is named for William Campbell. Campbell was a British Adjutant who rescued the Reverend Noah Williston from being hanged due to his outspokenness.
Several failed attempts at incorporation led West Haven to join with North Milford and form Orange, which was incorporated in 1822. West Haven wanted more though so, in 1921 it split from Orange to become a separate town successfully incorporated in 1961. Ironically, West Haven is known as “Connecticut’s Youngest City” but is actually one of the state’s oldest settlements!
