Guide to Hosting Holiday Guests for Lazy People

It is about that time of year when everyone gets together with family and friends from all over, to relish in each other’s’ company. It is also the time of year when everything sounds great and fun…until you realize that you are the one hosting and you are unprepared.

Having people over during the holidays is always a fun idea, but in reality, it is a lot of work and a stress disguised as a gift. Do not let your holiday hosting plans discourage you from having the best holiday yet! All My Sons of Salt Lake City wants to help you get through this year’s holiday events by providing useful tips and tricks for making your guests merrier and making you…less exhausted.

  • First, you want to make your guests feel at home. Feel free to guide them and let them know that there are beverages in the fridge and to help themselves to anything they desire. By opening your home up to your guests, you will make them feel more at ease and make your hosting job easier. Most visitors feel uncomfortable bugging you for something as simple as a cup of water, so allowing them to navigate their way around your home will make their stay better.

  • Be realistic…every guest wants to know the second they walk through your door…what the Wi-Fi password is. Be one step ahead by providing a notecard with the Wi-Fi password on it in the guest’s room or posted on the fridge.

  • Make sure that your guests have the minimum essentials by making sure that there is an extra blanket or two, towels, soap, etc.

- Stock up on spare toiletries, such as: toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toilet paper, and a toothbrush or two. For the most part, these are essential items to regularly keep in your guest bathroom.

There is no need to go wild and try to reach the impossible goal of resembling a home like that of a magazine shoot. Your friends and family are most likely not there to judge you and your home’s appearance. The holidays are a time when family and friends come together to enjoy each other’s company.

All My Sons of Salt Lake City wants to remind you to relax and enjoy the holidays!
