What is Santa Fe Famous For?
While the US claimed this territory in 1848, it wasn’t until 1912 that New Mexico gained statehood. Santa Fe had been the area’s capital for more than 300 years before it joined the union. Structures still stand within the city limits, such as the De Vargas Street House, dating back to the early 1600s. The capitol building is far newer as it was dedicated in 1968. It is also the only round state capitol in the country.
As time has trickled on, Santa Fe has become one of the premier art cities in the US. Some of this rise is due to the widespread popularity of the American modernist artist Georgia O’Keeffe, who spent the last years of her life as a Santa Fe resident. Our local movers in Albuquerque believe The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, which opened to the public in 1997, is one of the highlights of any trip to New Mexico. Alongside O’Keeffe’s work, the Palace of the Governors and Meow Wolf stand as exhibits and collectives that Santa Fe has become known for.
Blend of Cultures
With its Spanish and Puebloan history roots, our Santa Fe movers want to highlight the diversity in culture that their city boasts. The city itself was constructed around a central plaza, similar to many Spanish cities. The architecture is predominantly influenced by the adobe look of Mexico and Spain. New Mexico is one of the few states in America with a majority-minority population, where less than 50% of the population is non-Hispanic white.
At All My Sons Moving & Storage, we celebrate the diversity of this great state and city. We are so excited to be members of the community and are always ready to serve anyone incoming. Our four generations of experience in the moving industry allow us to offer the best moving experience possible. Our Santa Fe movers hope to see you soon!
