Arches National Park is approximately three and a half hours from Salt Lake, near Moab. It has over 1,000 natural red sandstone arches and other impressive rock formations. Moab is a mountain biking mecca; riders come from all over to test their skills on its trails and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Canyonlands National Park is also close to Moab. Its diverse geography makes Canyonlands a great destination for hiking, biking, and four-wheeling.
Salt Lake City offers some great entertainment options. During the summer, the free Twilight Concert Series at Pioneer Park, near downtown Salt Lake draws big crowds. It features performances by many popular bands. Another great event that occurs in Salt Lake City and the surrounding area every January is the Sundance Film Festival. It is one of the biggest and most prestigious independent film festivals in the world. Movies screening and other events take place in Salt Lake, Park City, Ogden, and the Sundance Resort.
