Moving with Pets
Moving is an exciting new adventure, but do not forget about man’s best friend. Before you load your family and pets into the car and pack up the truck, there are some extra considerations for a move with pets. Moving with pets may seem stressful for you, but it can also be tough on your pets.
Tips for Moving with Pets
At All My Sons Moving & Storage Las Vegas, we care about your pets too. Follow these tips for the best way to move pets during your move to Las Vegas or far beyond.
Don’t leave items out. It is natural for your home to become a bit messier or cluttered during the packing process, but be wary of your roaming pets during the process. Items left out are easily knocked over by your mischievous cat or chewed up by man’s best friend. Avoid broken goods and a trip to the vet by staying organized.
Be careful with stacked boxes. Haphazardly stacked boxes can be dangerous for pets. A little carefree playtime could result in the boxes tumbling over, injuring your beloved pet. Keep packed items pushed against the wall or in a closed off room until moving day.
Our Nevada movers recommend keeping your pets contained to avoid a runaway pet situation. Even if you trust your pet, they might get excited and start exploring the new, unknown area and get lost. Whether you put them in a separate room while loading the truck or keep them in a cage or on a leash at pit stops, taking these precautions will relieve a little stress on your moving day.
Pack an overnight bag. Dog, cat, hamster, hermit crab, bird, or chinchilla; with the exception of a pet rock, your animal needs to have their own overnight bag. Fill it with everything they need for at least one night in your new home so you do not need to rummage through packed boxes looking for their supplies. When you move pets to a new home, it can be stressful for them too, so keep their favorite toy nearby as well.
Stay current with their health. If you are searching for Las Vegas long-distance movers, chances are you are going to need a new vet. Before you hit the road and move your pets, a visit to the vet may be in order. Get a hardcopy of their vaccination history and get any shots that will soon be due. Most importantly, stock up on any medications they need for a few months to buy you a little extra time to find a new vet.
