| Save on storm preparedness III |
Hurricanes, tornadoes and torrential rains bring the threat of strong
winds, flooding, thunder and lightning. This type of weather can wreak
havoc on homes and buildings in seconds. Things like trees, garbage
cans, cars, boats and debris become very dangerous objects in the midst
of the storms mayhem. Today we will look at ways to save on protecting
your home and property.
- Tree limbs, or older decadent trees should be cut down.
Purchase a decent set of trimming shears from the area home and garden
store. Better yet, scour the newspaper or craigslist for garage sales
featuring yard tools. You can grab a set of shears and an electric saw
and save.
- Remember debris left outside could be dangerous to your home or
property. Take scrap items like wood or metal to your local waste
management facility. Once a month you are allowed to trash these items
free of charge.
- Protect your home by purchasing wood to cover windows and glass
doorways. Wood can be purchased at your local hardware or home and
garden store. Make certain you properly measure those areas to ensure a
good fit. Sometimes you can find free scrap lumber. If you ever see a
sign advertising scrap lumber, its worth checking out.
- Storing of your boat or extra car will be needful if it can fit
into your garage. Check with a relative or neighbor who has extra
space. If no one has room, contact a local storage facility for quotes
on temporary storage.
