What 2011 Holds For Real Estate
In 2009, analysts thought the housing market would go up for 2010. They were dead wrong. What are we to expect for the 2011 year? At the end of the 2010 year, we saw sinking home values in almost every U.S. market, except for: Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington, D.C according to AOL Real Estate. There were six markets that actually hit their lowest levels and these were: Miami, Charlotte, Atlanta, Portland Oregon, Seattle and Tampa. Seems like many experts don't think the housing market is going to get any better, some even think it might get worse.
According to AOL Real Estate, some 96 analysts made their opinions public. Out of those 96 analysts, seems like 30 of them believe that prices are going to fall, another 30 think prices are going to increase slightly and the rest are simply neutral. Analysts aren't always right. In fact they believed that 2010 was going to be a good year for real estate, remember? The overwhelming opinion is that the housing market is going to decline before it goes up. One thing is certain, prices for properties are at very low levels, what you can buy today for $150,000 couldn't get you anything a few years back.
So what is it going to take for the housing market to rebound? Interest rates are low, the prices of homes are low, so why are there so many few buyers? It comes down to confidence. People are just nervous about making that big purchase. They're scared the property they buy will lose value. What's important to remember is that prices are low right now, and even if they went lower, how much lower can they really hit? A purchase in today's market would be a great deal and in a couple of years from now, that property will most likely be worth almost double what you paid for.
Don't be scared to buy that first home or condo in 2011.With so much to do from its incredible zoo to many popular sites, San Antonio is the place to be.
