Sacramento: The River City
Move over San Francisco! Sacramento tops Northern California’s most desired list,
offering a smaller alternative to the packed streets and suburbs of other California cities. Sacramento’s population of 450,000 attracts residents who refuse to get
lost in the crowd, while its 2 million strong metropolitan area provides all of
the comforts a big city offers.
Located right in the center of Northern California, Sacramento is only a short drive
away from a variety of settings and activities. You are just an hour and a half
east of a day of roaming the wine trails of Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. The miles
of beautiful vineyards greet you as you taste your way through the valley’s lush
offerings. Don’t forget to stop at one of the five star restaurants dotted throughout
both Sonoma and Napa for an unforgettable dining experience.
Find a haven of cool waters and a summer’s worth of fun at Lake Tahoe, a two hour
drive east from Sacramento. During the winter months, Tahoe morphs into a well-known
ski destination, providing year-around enjoyment for all visitors.
If you crave a visit to a bustling city, try Reno or San Francisco, both two hours
from Sacramento. Or find a quiet escape in the Sierra foothills, a thirty-minute
excursion.
But Sacramento residents know a good time is just a few steps away. The weather
here is almost always beautiful, with sunny skies, low humidity, and mild winters.
Step outside and see your fellow community members biking, walking, or simply enjoying
a book under a tree in one of the city’s many parks.
You won’t find a shortage of health-minded companions in Sacramento. Organic goods
occupy the shelves of natural food stores and big chain supermarkets, and many cafes
and shops offer nutritious meals and environmentally-friendly goods. Sacramento
residents are an active bunch, so invest in a good pair of athletic shoes and join
the fun!
