Apex, North Carolina, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, has commercial buildings and homes from the 1870s to the 1940s. It’s history goes back to when a railroad station was chartered in Apex area in 1854 however the first train passed through the town only in 1869. The first settlers were there by the 1860s, but the town was only incorporated by 1873. Money Magazine ranked Apex number 14 as one of the best places to live in the U.S. in 2007. And by 2008, Apex, North Carolina had experienced tremendous growth.

Downtown Apex is filled with life and movement, boasting popular dining establishments, old-fashioned soda shops, gift shops upscale boutiques and more to discover. Hughes and Salem streets are a wonderful historic look back in the past. Apex also has a monthly event called the First Fridays downtown, where every first Friday of the month, Apex galleries and restaurants open their doors to visitors so they can check out some of the works from local artists and sample delicious food and wine. It’s either at no cost to visitors or a special reduced- price. Another popular even in this dynamic city is the annual Peak Fest which typically takes place in May. It’s a sponsored event with about 200 vendors showcasing their crafts and art. More than 25,000 people visit every year in downtown Apex. There’s also a Kids Zone providing children with rides and games and arts and crafts. There are stage performances, dancing, singing and a ton of fun for the entire family.

Cary is definitely influenced by the Research Triangle Park and is now the sixth largest city in North Carolina and is voted best place to live in the Southeast by Money Magazine. Cary is great for people who love the outdoors, it has 25 parks to enjoy. The downtown area is filled with restaurants and specialty shops and in August there’s the famous Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival which is named as one of the ‘top 100 festivals’.
