The Oklahoma History Center

Whether you are a resident, a visitor, or a future transplant to Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma History Center has much to offer. A personal favorite attraction of the Oklahoma City movers, the center has valuable and interesting information to offer everyone who steps foot inside. The history of Oklahoma comes to life through informative exhibits, extensive galleries, and detailed audio recordings. Encompassing 18 acres, the Oklahoma History Center helps you immerse yourself in all things Oklahoma, from the Wild West to oil expeditions.

As an affiliate of the Smithsonian, the Oklahoma History Center believes in delivering top notch collections to entertain and inform all guests. Located near the State Capitol, you can easily spend an afternoon soaking up a great amount of Oklahoma City history within the museum and also within the political wing of the area.

Exhibits such as Red Dirts to Rockets (exploring Oklahoma’s ties to the space industry), Farm Days (about the history of agriculture in the area), and Septemberfest, which aims to cover several aspects of Oklahoma’s history, the center is constantly evolving and offering new things for visitors to learn. It’s rarely the same place twice!

Discounts are offered for children, students and seniors. The center also holds classes and special events, so you can view the center’s calendar and learn of upcoming events and learning experiences. Equipped with a café, gift shop and area to relax, the Oklahoma History Center is a great way to spend an afternoon learning more about how the city has developed.
