Save Big When You Buy New Appliances
If you’re looking to move into a new place and think you’ll be needing new appliances, All My Sons of Nashville, with the help of MSN.com, is here to give you a little bit of advice on how to save big when it comes to purchasing new appliances. There are programs out there that you can take advantage of, even if you’re staying in the same house but would like to switch your appliances.
The
Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program
, passed last February as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will give rebates to people who are looking to buy more energy-efficient appliances. This program was put in place to encourage customers to buy energy efficient products and with the help of partners, Energy Star can allocate sales tax exemptions, recycling incentives, special offers and of course rebates. You just have to watch out for the rules of this program, because the $300 million allocated for this program was parceled out to U.S. states based on population, so each state has its own plan. MSN gives examples: Minnesota qualifies for rebates on clothes washers, dishwashers, freezers and refrigerators, but Indiana residents get cash back only on heating and air-conditioning systems.
The amount of money you get back per appliance is also different in each state. In Texas for example, a new freezer can get consumers a rebate of $180, but in Minnesota, consumers will only get $100. However, in both states consumer can get additional money if the old model is recycled.
You also have to verify when the program starts in the state you live in. For example Florida, Texas and Tennessee are holding out until April to coincide with Earth Day. States like Oregon, Connecticut, Wisconsin and New Jersey are hoping to start the program right away.
We hope that this advice can really help you save money in the long run.
