Moving into the New Year with a new you and new home?

The year 2011 has begun as most New Year’s do with a host of individuals making all sorts of New Year’s resolutions.  Some are committing to shedding pounds, while others are giving up certain foods and habits that hinder them from reaching their goals.

New York Times Best Seller and inspirational speaker John Maxwell, starts his book, Today Matters, by asking his readers to take an inventory of their daily habits.  Maxwell believes that a positive reorganization of what you do on a daily basis will shape a better tomorrow.  Several diet plans begin with this sort of introspective approach as well.  The celebrity branded Weight Watchers is one of them.

A couple of months ago Weight Watchers announced a new points system promoting healthier eating.  This year’s face of Weight Watchers is the soulful, and now several pounds lighter, Jennifer Hudson.  The commercial showcases her figure and her sultry sounds as she belts out a line of the late Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.”  “It’s a new dawn, a new day…and I’m feeling good.” I believe Weight Watcher’s has captured the essence of most Americans as they begin this New Year.  Many are hopeful of achieving and securing things they didn’t in the last decade.

Over the last two years, the economy went through a major crisis affecting the lives of millions of Americans.  The unemployment rate rose and so did the number of individuals who found themselves homeless.  Here it is 2011, and signs of a steadily improving economy are starting to rise.  Unemployment is down for the first time in months and the housing market is showing signs of improvement.  A representative from the National Association of Realtors reported pending home sales rose again in November 2010, with the broad trend over the past five months indicating a gradual recovery into 2011. For many Americans relocating to begin a new career or those simply looking for a larger home, the time to buy is now.  Low interest rates and eager sellers equal a good buy.

As you think about downsizing your existing home and moving to your new home I’m sure your head begins to spin.  However, allow me to recommend a solution.  Consider securing a moving quote from a reputable moving and storage company.  There are several industry professionals vying for your business, but hiring a relocation company that understands residential moving is crucial.  Contrary to popular belief, moving doesn’t have to be a costly expense.  Nowadays movers customize moving services for their customers.  A client can have their entire home fully packed by a mover or only allow their mover to pack their fragile items.  A full service moving company will share with you options and also recommend the best service for your budget and schedule.  After all, your focus now should be on the New Year, new you and your new home!
