The Maryland Movers’ spotlight on Montgomery County, MD
Montgomery County is just North of Washington D.C. and southwest of Baltimore. According to Wikipedia.com, it’s one of the most affluent counties in the nation and has the most residents over 25 holding post-graduate degrees. It’s largest municipality is Rockville but it holds many unincorporated places like Silver Spring, Germantown and Bethesda. Montgomery County is the second richest county per capita in Maryland and 8th richest in the nation.
The county has numerous large corporations headquartered here such as
Geico
, Discovery Communications, Ritz-Carlton amongst others, research centers, federal government agencies, and more. Montgomery also has many cities, towns and villages. Gaithersburg, Rockville and Takoma Park are the cities. There are 12 towns, some incorporated since 1888, four villages and countless unincorporated towns like Damascus, Cloverly and Olney.
If you’ve got younger kids, Montgomery has an extensive school system with numerous public schools, elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. These include Ashburton, Jon T. Baker, Montgomery Blair and more. The county has 200 schools in total serving about 142,000 students. A total of 34 schools are National Blue Ribbon schools.
Montgomery attractions and activities to enjoy include a wide range of things to see and do. From hiking and biking to visiting more than 60 galleries, touring historical venues, attending the theatre and visiting more than 345 parks, you have a lifetime’s worth of things to enjoy as a resident. There’s the Brookside Gardens in Wheaton Regional Park, the
Clara Barton National Historic Site
