City Love or Suburban Satisfaction?

There’s an undeniable allure about living in the middle of the sights, sounds and vibrancy of the city, but there’s also comfort in living on a quiet street in the suburb where you can grill in your backyard and maybe even plant your own garden. Before you call up professional Maryland movers, you’ve got to decide where they’ll be hauling all of your belongings to. So do you buy a place in the bustling city or in the quiet suburbs?

Living Proof

Just like living in the suburbs is no longer regarded as a quiet boring life, living in the city is no longer the picnic that it used to be. Apartment rents are skyrocketing and individuals who want to live greener no longer mind living in a suburb. Something else to think about is that just because you cross a bridge or railroad tracks doesn’t automatically mean that you’re stepping into a suburban nightmare.

You might enjoy not having to own a car and being close to nightclubs and bars if you live in the city, but you might also being close to farmer’s markets and having a roomy kitchen if you live in the suburbs. In either situation, you’ll be giving up something, but what that something is is entirely up to you.

Travelin’ Shoes

Where you live will also depend on where you work or where you want to work. If you know that you’ll be at your current job for a while, then it makes sense for you to live close to work. If you know you’ll soon be leaving your current job, you might want to start thinking about where you would like to work so that you can get a better idea of where you might want to move to.

With a commute, you have to think about what time you leave in the mornings, what time you go to bed at night, how much free time you’ll have after you come home from work and how long you’ll be in traffic each day. If you have kids, you’ll also have to think about how long it will take them to get to school. Before you make a final decision about living in the city or the suburbs, be sure to test out the commute route yourself.

House Age & House Size

If you want a newer home, you’ll probably be happier living in the suburbs, unless of course you don’t mind living in a renovated loft. If you don’t mind home improvement projects, then an older home in the suburbs or an older residence in the city might be a good fit for you.

You’ll probably be able to get more home for your buck in the suburbs. Individuals with kids and pets will undoubtedly want to find something in the suburbs while those who don’t mind sharing walls with neighbors and desire a trendy or unique home might want to set their sights on the city.

Two other factors to think about before making your decision about where Maryland movers will be shipping your belongings are regulations and taxes. Can you handle the property taxes and tax rates set by the local government?

Making the decision about where to live is like trying to decide between getting a new car and a used car. While both of them have their own unique advantages, both also have their own disadvantages.
