Developing our budget playbook.
March Madness

While the NCAA March Madness tournament is underway, I'd like to suggest we engage in a tournament ourselves.  Let's see if we can arrange a few plays of our own that will result in savings.  Today I'd like to look at our budget.  Below are a few tips that will assist us with winning this game.
  • Develop a weekly or monthly budget for expenses.  This process helps you plan and not frivolously spend.
  • Allocate an allowance for the week.  Make a column for all weekly expenses. Stay within your budget and watch your savings.
  • Keep a tab of all your expenses.  Once you've paid your bills, write it down. This way you can see where your monies are going.
  • Participate in a savings program that automatically deducts money from your account. Many banks now have these types of programs to assist with helping you save money.
  • Paying your bills through automatic draft can help save. Using this method alleviates late fees and it also requires you to function only on what's left.
The above information is just a small sample of ways to save when implementing a budget. Put 'em to good use.
