Moving in Laurel

Laurel, Maryland is located in between Washington D.C. and Baltimore. Since it was incorporated in 1870, Laurel’s population has grown to over 19,000 as of the year 2000! There is no question why All My Sons is moving you to Laurel but we thought you might like to know a little bit of the history of your new home!

Originally know as “Laurel Factory,” Laurel was a true company town. Most of the schools, shops and mill workers’ homes were owned by Patuxent Manufacturing Mill until the 1860’s. The Mill was chartered in 1835 to ship cotton duck to Baltimore. The Mill president, Horace Capron, helped to build close to 300 homes to accommodate the mill workers. That kind of compassion can be seen today when you choose All My Sons as your Laurel mover. Being family owned and operated has helped to teach us to have compassion and provide all of our customers with the common courtesy that they are entitled to!

During the latter half of the 19th Century, Laurel evolved into an early suburban town and many of the residents commuted by rail to work in some of the larger cities like Washington or Baltimore. That is one of the attractions of moving to Laurel, it is so close to the larger cities that you can live in Laurel but still be open to opportunities in the bigger cities!

Another attraction for many Laurel residents is the Laurel Park Racecourse. It is a thoroughbred horse racetrack that was opened in 1911 and is still in operation. All My Sons Moving & Storage recommends a visit to the track if you are a race fan. It is definitely more environmentally friendly that car races! There is just so much to do and see in Laurel that you won’t know what to do first, but don’t worry; you will find the time now that you call this wonderful place home!
