Watch Out for Undisclosed Charges and Minimums when Moving

There are so many aspects to moving, and the more educated the customer is, the better the move will go.  Most moving companies are upfront and honost with their charges, however there are a select group of "rogue moves" that damage the moving industries reputation for all of us.

Here are a few tips to look out for during the move:

1.  Make sure that the Bill of Lading (moving contract) charges are the same prices that you were quoted when you booked the move.  If there is a discrepancy in price make sure that the mover in charge changes the price and initials next to the agreed upon amount.

2.  Verify if their is a minimum amount of hours that you will be charged for, regardless of the length of the move.  Minimums can vary based on season, daily availibility, and numerous other circumstances.

3.  If you do not feel completely comfortable with a moving quote ask the sales representative to come to your home for an on-site estimate.  All moving companies have to offer this service and if you are in a 3 bedroom house or larger I always recommend having someone do an onsite.

All My Sons Moving and Storage of Indianapolis is proud to run a completely transparent billing process.  We will gladly send an onsite moving specialist to your home to explain all of our services.  No matter what move you decide to go with ensure that you ask for full disclosure and if you are not comfortable with a company... simply call up the next one.
