An Indianapolis Public Schools teacher and his three children were surprised today with the launch of an “Extreme Makeover” of their Near-Eastside home.
Producers of the ABC television hit “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’’ knocked on the door of Bernard McFarland’s house in the 2300 block of North Oxford Street this morning. The show began filming as the show’s bus arrived at their home and surprised the family at 7 a.m.
The family could not have been more surprised or deserving. Mr. McFarland, the gentleman whose home is being renovated, dedicated 4 years of his life serving in the U.S. Navy, and since then has been an instrumental figure in Indianapolis' education system.
