First-hand accounts of “sky lit up from the flares” were reported by people living near the shut-down refineries, as well as burning lungs and unpleasant odors resulting from related emissions.

Given that two instances of power-loss within the last ten years have caused so many problems, people living near the most problematic Houston areas may consider moving to ensure safety for their families.
