Power Outage Scare in Houston

The power outages which began late on Monday night have been, for the most part, restored in Houston. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries –minor or serious– which is excellent news considering a similar incident back in 2005. That year a BP unit lost power causing a deadly explosion which claimed fifteen lives.

Despite the loss of no lives, the power outages have caused health concerns and other problems. Three refineries and a chemical plant were shut down due to said power outages, and though it has been lifted, a shelter-in-place order was put in place for Texas City –people residing in Texas City were directed to stay indoors. First-hand accounts of “sky lit up from the flares” were reported by people living near the shut-down refineries, as well as burning lungs and unpleasant odors resulting from related emissions.

Given that two instances of power-loss within the last ten years have caused so many problems, people living near the most problematic Houston areas may consider moving to ensure safety for their families. Your pro Houston movers are happy to handle your relocation needs, especially if it is for the benefit of your health and peace-of-mind! All worries of power failure in Houston may be at bay for now, which surely puts minds at ease... But for how long?
