Ft Lauderdale At A Glance

Full Speed Ahead When you Move to Fort Lauderdale!

Fort Lauderdale may not a have the Doge’s Palace or St. Mark’s Square, but this Venice of America has something the Italian city lacks – miles of shimmering, clean beaches and 3,000 hours of sunshine annually. Florida’s world-famous hot spot is home to 200,000 people. Add the surrounding South Florida metropolitan area, and you have 5.5 million new neighbors to enjoy!

Greater Fort Lauderdale has more than 300 miles of navigable inland waterways stretching south to Miami. This Intracoastal Waterway winds among stunning waterfront homes, citrus tree groves, and the exotic Everglades, providing breath-taking views of stunning scenery at every turn.

It’s easy to get distracted by the sheer natural beauty of Fort Lauderdale, but the spectacular sites don’t stop there. Local government can’t help but notice the number of people and families moving to Fort Lauderdale. In response, local government officials are in the process of a 26 million dollar, city-wide renovation at this very moment!

Over the past 10 years, the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) of the Fort Lauderdale City Commission has provided over 8.5 million dollars in incentives and grants to promote development within the district. In return, the district produced over 16 million dollars in TIF funds that will go directly into continued redevelopment efforts. The CRA has several target development projects in mind and plans to invest millions more for the benefit of the city. In the next five years, Fort Lauderdale citizens can expect to see improvements in the Sweeting Estates, Dorsey Riverbend, and Midtown/Mainstreet areas, to name a few.

In the mean time, take advantage of the picturesque scenes awaiting you throughout the streets of Fort Lauderdale. The Riverwalk is the city’s center for arts and science, as well as cultural and historic experiences in venues such as the Broward Center, Museum of Discovery and Science, and Old Fort Lauderdale Village and Museum. When hunger strikes or your shopping desires get the best of you, head to exquisite Las Olas Boulevard for an unforgettable dining, shopping, or nightlife experience any day of the week.
