All My Sons Walks You Through Folsom’s History
Folsom, California is most often remembered for Folsom State Prison. Johnny Cash made it famous with his song, “Folsom Prison Blues,” in which he describes his experience in the historic prison. While that is one of the most well-known facts, it is not what makes Folsom such a wonderful place to live. So you know about the prison. That’s fine, but All My Sons is here to show you the lighter, more beautiful side of Folsom, California.
Folsom originally started as a small town called Granite City. I was mainly occupied by gold miners who were seeking fortune in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. As it turned out, very few people actually “struck it rich.” Folsom grew and prospered due to Joseph Folsom lobbying to get a railroad built to connect “Granite City” to Sacramento. Joseph died before the railroad’s completion and the town was later renamed Folsom in his honor.
Folsom State Prison was originally built because of the agreement between the Livermore family and the state to donate land for the prison in exchange for prison labor. The sawmill that they planned to construct but it never quite worked out. As the old saying goes, “when one door shuts, another one opens.” The Livermore’s realized the natural force of running water could provide more than enough energy to transmit to Sacramento. That is why the Folsom Powerhouse was created. That goes to show that good can come from the most unlikely of places.
Folsom is a city of many great beginnings. It is the site of the West’s fist railroad and the world’s first long-distance transmission of electricity. Folsom is steadily attracting newcomers in search of good housing or good jobs so it comes as no surprise that All My Sons Moving & Storage is handling your upcoming move to Folsom. Moving is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. It can affect your life in many ways, either good or bad. You don’t want to move just anywhere and that is why you are moving to Folsom.
