On January 15th in 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 made an historic emergency landing into the Hudson River near New York City after a collision with a flock of geese caused the airplane to lose power. Thanks to the fast acting response of a rescue watercraft, the passengers were safely removed from the slowly sinking plane before the catastrophe became tragic.
