According to the Census Bureau, since 1980, every year, about 43 million Americans move. That's equal to about 17 percent of the entire population.

Young adults move at more than twice that rate. 35.6% of those are between the ages of 20 and 24 move every year and 30.7 % for those between the ages of 25 and 29.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 13 million children (up to age 19) move each year.

Americans move on average 11 times during their lifetimes.

In America, a third or renters move every year.

The most popular reason people move is for a better job which ultimately is to live a better life. About 40% of all moves are job-related, with 42% being personal moves and 18% are government relocations.

About 62% of people presently live in the state they were actually born.

Florida has the lowest percentage of people born there and still live there today. Only 30.5% of current Floridians were born in the sunshine state. In Pennsylvania, 80.2% of the residents were actually also born there.

People move mostly during the months of June, July and August.

Most moves, about 57%, are within the same county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 18% of all moves are about moving into a nicer house or apartment with 7% of moves being about finding cheaper housing and 4% about moving into a safer neighborhood.
