Beware of Mold in Your Atlanta Apartment Complex

Recently, a Marietta apartment complex, Cumberland Crossing, was investigated by CBS Atlanta for mold. The mold spores were so prevalent and the building was so poorly cared for, that residents actually started falling ill. These spores circulate through the air conditioning vents, spreading the germs and toxicity through the apartments at an accelerated rate.

Mold is a very dangerous, and strong yet silent killer. Here are some tips from the Atlanta movers on how to inspect your apartment for a potential mold infestation:

*Start looking. Visible signs of mold in your home can range from gray, white, green, or black clusters resembling cotton. Black mold is extremely dangerous.

*Smell. If you smell mold odors, begin your thorough mold search immediately. The longer you put it off, the worse it will get. Also, unseen molds may be detected by an odor or by irritation in your throat.

*Odd spots. Look for water discoloration on walls and ceilings. Excess water is a huge cause for mold and mold exposure.

*Pick up a home mold test kit. Instant results kits can help you to determine if mold has a presence in your residence.

If you do sense there is a presence of mold in your home, be sure to contact your landlord and have them send a certified mold professional to inspect your home. Remember, it is better to be safe than sorry
