Spring Savings Now IV
Watering tips for Spring-Prepare to Save
Below are more tips to save when watering your lawn this spring.  Are you going to remember these?  If not, we’ll go over them again in a few months.  Take notes!
  • Regulate sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, driveway or street.
  • Instead of using a water hose to clean your sidewalk or driveway after mowing, use a broom.
  • If water runs off your lawn easily, split your watering time into shorter periods to allow for better absorption.
  • Change your lawn mower to a higher setting when needing to mow later this spring. A taller lawn protects roots and holds soil moisture.
  • Utilize sprinklers for large areas of grass only. Use your garden hose to catch smaller areas.
  • Regularly check your sprinkler system valves for leaks.  Proper maintenance of the heads ensures no leakage.
  • Alleviate watering on windy days.  Generally the water is blown away.
