| Save on Valentine's Party Treats for School |
| Savings for Valentine's Day |
Valentine’s Day is approaching. This week the malls and grocery stores
will be filled with people shopping for the best gift, card or
chocolate. For the next few days I’d like to share some ways to save
on your Valentine’s Day festivities. Today I’ll go over some ideas to
help with saving on your child’s school party treats.
- Of course the obvious way to save on food treats for
their party is to bake ‘em at home. You and the kids can crank up the
music and pull out the cookie sheet and make sugar cookies, brownies or
rice crispy treats. I always loved the homemade treats that our room mothers brought.
- Secondly, for those school
systems who don’t allow for homemade treats-try the local dollar
store. You can find all sorts of sweet treats within your budget. Healthy buys like fruit snacks are available as well.
- Now
for the card and candy exchange I do recommend the dollar store. They carry the same type as the neighborhood pharmacy or grocer
and you save. However, you must hit them early, so if you’re reading
this today, you better stop by there on your way home.
- The
kids can also make a fancy personalized greeting for their classmates
from scraps around the house. Last year my kids did something very
creative with newspaper and left over magazines.
Let me know how everything goes. Do you have any suggestions for our readers to try? If so jot 'em down!
