Are Your Movers Professional?
Moving is a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it. A tough job such as your upcoming residential move is not something that should be trusted to the hands of just anybody. People move every day, and the demand for labor from people who are moving provides a lot of work for moving companies –especially during the summer time.

Before you ever get around to phoning local moving companies to arrange for your relocation services, you are almost certainly up to your eyeballs in moving-related stress; this stress can easily cloud your judgment during a time when you need it most. What you may not realize is that not all moving companies are created equal. Not every relocation service provider can supply you with reliable movers who exhibit skill and professionalism. Many moving service providers cut corners to save money and hire “day-laborers” right off the street to supply the labor for your move. With little more prerequisites aside from the willingness to do hard manual labor –no background check, no training, nor prior moving experience required– movers who send day-laborers into your home could be neglectfully setting you up for a moving day disaster.

If you ever have to endure a nightmare moving experience, you’ll likely become an industry expert. However; the bitter taste the experience will leave behind makes it hard to imagine ever hiring a moving company again. So here’s to hoping you discover the importance of hiring a competent professional mover before it is too late! There are many costly aspects surrounding your move, and by the time you get around to thinking about hiring movers you are going to be highly focused on saving as much money on the needed expense as possible.  So how do you save money on moving services?

It is an all-too-common misconception that the lowest hourly rate mover you can find is the key to saving money on the services. This is a very flawed concept however, as the hourly rate of any given moving company is almost directly related to the quality of service the company provides. If each of the moving companies available to you provided the same great service, a low hourly rate would clearly be your best bet. This is not the case however; a low hourly rate mover is more often than not associated with horrific experiences due to the sub-par labor the company has the nerve to dispatch to your home.

If you could rise above the crippling stress, you would likely realize how illogical of an assumption it is to assume a low-hourly-rate mover can provide you with a quality affordable service. The low hourly rate should tell you one thing: this is a moving company which does not pay much for its labor; the same labor they provide for your move. Day-laborers who are desperate for a paycheck will work for little more than peanuts performing any grunt work that comes their way. Lacking the experience and discipline possessed by professional moving crewmembers, day-laborers often make careless mistakes while handling your household items which can cost you thousands of dollars considering that the company is not likely insured. Furthermore; a crew of day-laborer movers also lack teamwork, and teamwork is extremely important if you want your move to be finished in a timely manner (keep in mind that you are paying by the hour; you NEED quick professional movers!)

If you have not yet moved, you can still make the right choice regarding which moving company you hire. Do not let a seemingly high hourly rate deter you from scheduling reliable relocation professionals for your move. Instead, let the hourly rates be an indicator of your mover’s service-quality. Hire movers who will be careful quick and experienced; a high hourly rate for a few hours worth of good service is much better than a low hourly rate for many miserable hours of disastrous nightmare moving. Use your head!
