I am always being asked by our customers, "How can I help to make the move go smoother, so I can save money?" This is a great question, and with the currrent economic conditions everyone is looking for tips to help save money on their move.
Here is a list of things that a customer can do to help save themselves some money:
1. Bring all of your items to a centralized area inside your home. Make sure that the area is easily accessible from multiple angles, such as a living room or large foyer.
2. Clearly mark on the boxes what room you want them brought to, and arrange "like-room" boxes together in your centralized location.
3. Allow the movers time to properly protect your furniture, floors, and walls. Although, this will add 15 to 20 minutes to the time of the move, in the long run this has potential to save you a great deal in damages and claims.
4. Organize attics, basements, and garages. Historically, these three areas have the potential of increasing the hours spent on your move more than any other rooms. Take the time to organize what you want to be move and dispose of the rest prior to moving day. The potential to save money here is substantial and if left for the day of the move can really have an undesired effect on your wallet.
These are just some simple hints to help you save money on your move
