Clipping coupons, joining rewards programs, and shopping on tax free weekends are things we do to save money. Unfortunately these traditional methods are not the best way to save money when you are moving from one home into another. All My Sons Moving and Storage offers these helpful tips to help keep more of the green stuff in your pocket!
- Spring clean. That’s right! It’s not just reserved for the spring. Getting rid of old clothes, dishes, books, and items you just don’t need anymore will save you money. By getting rid of items you don’t need or want anymore you will save money on boxes, and tape as well as time on the clock since the movers won’t have to pack and unpack your unwanted items.
- Visit your local thrift store. After you’ve cleaned out your closets take your items to a resale store. Places like Plato’s closet will purchase your old items. You can then use that money toward your move.
- Move during the week. Some moving companies offer lower rates for those customers that choose to move Monday – Friday. When you are choosing a mover make sure to ask if this is something they offer.
- Use the same company. Since moving is not like buying milk, in other words you don’t have to do it every week; moving companies are excited to receive repeat clients. If you had a great experience call the same company and ask if they offer a discount since you’ve moved with them before.
