Savannah, GA February 18, 2011 --- The Savannah and Hilton Head Moving Company, All My Sons Moving and Storage delivered workout equipment to the Savannah YMCA this past Monday. "This center is a piece of this area's history," stated Eric De Weerd, President of All My Sons Moving of Savannah and Hilton Head.
The Savannah moving company disassembled, picked-up, delivered and reassembled the donated equipment on Valentine's Day adding a special touch to the local Y's holiday. " Being able to help spread love to those who benefit from the Broad St. YMCA was a no-brainer for us," concluded DeWeerd.
About the Broad Street YMCA
In 1947 visionary leaders in Savannah, including Rev. Ralph Mark Gilbert and W.W. Law, created the West Broad Street YMCA for Black soldiers returning from WWII as these brave veterans were legally not allowed to utilize the whites only Savannah Y. After several attempts to integrate, it was determined that chartering a separate Y was required. Following several locations, the West Broad Street YMCA opened its doors at 714 West Broad Street to provide temporary housing and recreation. Learn More
